Response to Julia

Julia, I completely agree with you 100%. I think that the President Obama’s race played a major role in why he won. The number of African American and young voters sky rocketed in this past election. Voting for Obama seemed to be a fad and trendy thing to do for America’s youth. With the support of many celebrities, many young voters saw this as the popular thing to do without having any knowledge of politics. I think more than anything, Obama was famous more than he was a politician. The only think that I don’t agree on is when you said all he is trying to do is win the next election. In fact, his approval ratings are down right now and he was quoted saying that he is not concerned with approval ratings as long as he is doing the “right thing” when it comes to the health care bill. Personally, I HOPE and think the bill is going to crash and burn…but I wont go into a rant about that. Other than the comment about him trying to win the next election, everything else I completely agree with. In fact, at this point I don’t think he will even win the next election… even my brother and dad who are very Democratic and Obama lovers think he wont win the next election… THANK GOD!

Arizona's Illegal Immigration Laws

In a recent article in Fox News, it talks about how Arizona has proposed a bill that will impose some of the toughest immigration laws that this country has seen. Governor Brewer stated that “it would give police in the state broad new powers to arrest and charge people suspected of being in the country illegally”. Some say that this law will bring too much racial profiling to the state and say that the law is completely unconstitutional. The article goes on to talk about some of the provisions of the bill and how these provisions will be detrimental to the state. Sen. Russel Pearce denied claims that the bill will “lead to arbitrary profiling and said the bill is needed to help Arizona deal with rampant crime” and he told Fox News that, "Arizona has become ground zero. We're number two in the world in kidnapping. ... We're not taking it anymore. We're going to enforce our laws, with compassion.” Personally I am for this bull and think that this is law is not unconstitutional at all!! It’s a slap in our constitutions face to allow illegal immigrants reside in our country. The simple fact is, if your of Mexican heritage and have nothing to hide then you should be more than willing to prove your citizenship, but if your not a citizen then you need to be brought to justice. If we keep allowing the illegal immigration situation to escalate, then eventually this drug war in Mexico will be a problem for many southwestern states, and if the government isn’t willing to support a law that enforces stricter border control and harsher punishment for illegal immigration then the southwestern states are in trouble.

Response to Kelsey Scott

Kelsey, after I read you blog, I agree with almost everything you have stated. Now… don’t get me wrong, I cannot wait for President Obama’s term to be up, but the question of weather or not he is a citizen. I know that a lot of people think his birth certificate is fraudulent, but honestly… I think with all of the extensive background checks he had to go through to even run for the Presidency, there is NO WAY he isn’t a US Citizen. Personally, I think that this notion of his birth certificate being fake is just a conspiracy theory! But your blog made me think of the new issue we have about abolishing the “birthright citizenship” policy under that 14th amendment . Many Republicans think that this needs to be abolished because many illegal immigrants cross the border and give birth to their child so that he or she can be considered an American Citizen. I personally agree with this 100%. I think its bogus that someone can be considered a citizen when they are brought into the country illegally and both of their parents are considered illegal, that’s cheating the system and its unfair.

Anyways, I really enjoyed your post and just wanted to let you know you aren’t the only one out there who cant wait till his term is up!! I’m counting down the days
