Julia, I completely agree with you 100%. I think that the President Obama’s race played a major role in why he won. The number of African American and young voters sky rocketed in this past election. Voting for Obama seemed to be a fad and trendy thing to do for America’s youth. With the support of many celebrities, many young voters saw this as the popular thing to do without having any knowledge of politics. I think more than anything, Obama was famous more than he was a politician. The only think that I don’t agree on is when you said all he is trying to do is win the next election. In fact, his approval ratings are down right now and he was quoted saying that he is not concerned with approval ratings as long as he is doing the “right thing” when it comes to the health care bill. Personally, I HOPE and think the bill is going to crash and burn…but I wont go into a rant about that. Other than the comment about him trying to win the next election, everything else I completely agree with. In fact, at this point I don’t think he will even win the next election… even my brother and dad who are very Democratic and Obama lovers think he wont win the next election… THANK GOD!

Arizona's Illegal Immigration Laws
In a recent article in Fox News, it talks about how Arizona has proposed a bill that will impose some of the toughest immigration laws that this country has seen. Governor Brewer stated that “it would give police in the state broad new powers to arrest and charge people suspected of being in the country illegally”. Some say that this law will bring too much racial profiling to the state and say that the law is completely unconstitutional. The article goes on to talk about some of the provisions of the bill and how these provisions will be detrimental to the state. Sen. Russel Pearce denied claims that the bill will “lead to arbitrary profiling and said the bill is needed to help Arizona deal with rampant crime” and he told Fox News that, "Arizona has become ground zero. We're number two in the world in kidnapping. ... We're not taking it anymore. We're going to enforce our laws, with compassion.” Personally I am for this bull and think that this is law is not unconstitutional at all!! It’s a slap in our constitutions face to allow illegal immigrants reside in our country. The simple fact is, if your of Mexican heritage and have nothing to hide then you should be more than willing to prove your citizenship, but if your not a citizen then you need to be brought to justice. If we keep allowing the illegal immigration situation to escalate, then eventually this drug war in Mexico will be a problem for many southwestern states, and if the government isn’t willing to support a law that enforces stricter border control and harsher punishment for illegal immigration then the southwestern states are in trouble.

Response to Kelsey Scott
Kelsey, after I read you blog, I agree with almost everything you have stated. Now… don’t get me wrong, I cannot wait for President Obama’s term to be up, but the question of weather or not he is a citizen. I know that a lot of people think his birth certificate is fraudulent, but honestly… I think with all of the extensive background checks he had to go through to even run for the Presidency, there is NO WAY he isn’t a US Citizen. Personally, I think that this notion of his birth certificate being fake is just a conspiracy theory! But your blog made me think of the new issue we have about abolishing the “birthright citizenship” policy under that 14th amendment . Many Republicans think that this needs to be abolished because many illegal immigrants cross the border and give birth to their child so that he or she can be considered an American Citizen. I personally agree with this 100%. I think its bogus that someone can be considered a citizen when they are brought into the country illegally and both of their parents are considered illegal, that’s cheating the system and its unfair.
Anyways, I really enjoyed your post and just wanted to let you know you aren’t the only one out there who cant wait till his term is up!! I’m counting down the days

Unemployment Benefits...
On the defense for why Republicans are opposing this bills, Republican Senator Orrin Hatch stated that, "What the president isn't telling the American people is that many of us in the Senate are fighting to make sure our children and grandchildren aren't buried under a mountain of debt". Although many people can’t help that they are unemployed or that they were laid off, but at the same time, why should the government be spending money on supporting these people when our economy is already in a deep enough hole? Shouldn’t we try and fix our debt before we start handing out cash to people?

Dennis Prager, a nationally syndicated radio talk sow host and columnist, writes in a recent blog about why the Leftists hate Conservatives. Prager argues that there are three possible reasons for why the Left has always hated people of the right. His first reason is that the “Left thinks the Right is evil”, basically saying that Democrats think Conservatives don’t have a conscious. His second reason is that “when you don’t confront real evil, you hate those who do”, and uses the example of the liberal world being enraged at President Ronald Regan when he declared that the Soviet Union was an “evil empire”. And finally his third reason is that the “Left’s utopian vision is prevented only by the Right”.
I find this article to be very true, because it seems as though in our society today, even the media leans to the Left. How is there justice in that? To be fair, there is hatred on both sides, but it seems like there is a much more obvious hatred on the Left side.
In conclusion, Prager leaves his reader with this statement… “Hatred of conservatives is so much a part of the Left that the day the Left stops hating conservatives will mark the beginning of the end of the Left as we know it.”

Doing the right thing?
In a recent article in the Houston Chronicle, written by an unknown author, the argument being made is that Obama’s approval rating is taking a beating because he is doing the right thing and the Republican party has been saying no to everything he has tried to do. In a recent Gallup poll, only 44% of the American public approve of our president’s performance. Republicans oppose this new $34 million dollar unemployment benefits extension because they say that we cannot afford it, but President Obama came back saying that Republicans policies turned, "a record surplus into a massive deficit, including a tax cut for the wealthiest Americans," and that Republicans have "finally decided to make their stand on the backs of the unemployed."
As far as the approval ratings go, I think in this article runs very thin on logic. He or she hasn’t given any evidence to show why Obama’s approval rating is going down, all he or she says is that the Republicans are opposing him at every turn, but this doesn’t tell us why his approval rating is going down. What’s the connection to the Republicans saying no and his approval ratings going down? Logic would say that his approval ratings should be going up, but there no logic given as to why they are going down… just conclusions are drawn.
This unknown author tells us to give President Obama a break and cut him some slack because he is doing this for the good of America, not for the approval ratings. Personally, I think that the reason the Republicans are constantly saying no is because they are trying to save the future of this country from a mountain of debt.

Just another nail in the coffin
In a recent article on Rand Paul’s website for his campaign in the 2010 US Senate election, he talks about the proposed “Death Tax” and how his opponent Jack Conway joins President Obama’s quest for implementing this new tax. Paul makes it very clear that he thinks this type of tax is ridiculous and that states that this death tax will unequally hurt famers and small businesses. Personally, I think that this is a HUGE mistake on Jack Conway’s part, because who wants to be taxed for dying… NOBODY! Currently, there is no estate tax in place in our government and that is how it should remain. In the words of Rand Paul himself, “President Obama and Jack Conway are just wrong. We should not be raising taxes on anyone, especially during a recession. And, we shouldn’t be trying to decide what rate the Death Tax should be, we should instead be keeping it where it is – zero.”
